ABOUT ME

I always knew I would be an artist of some kind. Growing up I was rarely seen without a sketchbook and throughout my early life I aspired to be a fashion designer, combining my obsession with drawing figures with my love of clothes and textiles; however I was urged by a favourite art teacher to drop the idea in favour of Fine Art. it took a while, but eventually I followed his good advice.

Years on I am still deeply driven to try to express the nuances of human movement and emotion in my studies of faces and figures, but after a move from town to countryside offered me a new subject to explore, drawing inspiration not only from my beautiful new surroundings, but from my past too, growing up on the south coast.

That same teacher also pushed me to paint bolder and bigger, which probably explains how I fell into painting murals for over twenty five years.

Thank you Mr. Standen.
